Unlike cross draft or side draft booths, which draw air horizontally across the workpiece, a vertical down draft booth pulls air from the top of the booth vertically down through filters located beneath the floor grates. This design helps to capture overspray and airborne contaminants efficiently, directing them away from the operator and the workpiece below.

 

The filtered air is then either recirculated or exhausted outside, depending on the system setup.
